Together! Clubs

Until August 2026 we ran a free year-round Clubs programme of creative activities for Disabled people, mostly via Zoom with additional telephone support, but we were unable to renew or replace our Lottery funding so sadly the Clubs have closed. Since we first received Lottery funding in 2018 (before that we ran the Clubs on a voluntary basis in Newham community venues), we have:

  • Organised more than 1300 free open-access workshops for Disabled people via the Together! 2012  Art Club, Photographers and Filmmakers Club, Dance on Screen Club and Pop-Up Poetry Club, both in venues and, since 2020, online.
  • Delivered more than 400 group and one-to-one sessions to Disabled young people through our free open-access Youth Together! programme, including supporting young people to achieve Arts Awards.
  • Provided more than 100 open mic opportunities for Disabled performers through the Together! 2012 Music Club, Pop-Up Poetry Café and Zoom Together!.
  • Offered Disabled people the opportunity to participate in 8 open exhibitions and 8 Carnival projects, with additional support from Arts Council England.
  • and generally empowered Disabled people to develop their self-confidence and social networks along with their creative skills, thus supporting their health and wellbeing.

We would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the Clubs programme, including workers and volunteers, and to wish them good luck on their future creative journeys. Here is some more information about our Clubs programme 2018-2026:

The Clubs programme was led by mid-career international artist Alison Marchant, and Clubs were facilitated by Alison and other mid-career Disabled artists, working alongside emerging and community artists. We believe that everyone has something to teach and something to learn. Our Clubs began in the main London 2012 Paralympic Host Borough of Newham, but once we moved online we welcomed participants from further afield too.

All of our activities are FREE. We did not ask for ‘proof’ of disability, and did not require participants to attend every week. Our Ground Rules provide further details of what was expected of participants, and our Code of Practice for Personal Assistance provides details of what was expected of supporters.

Participants and volunteers under the age of 26 could earn a nationally recognised Arts Award qualification through taking part. We also offered training including an apprenticeship programme.
