This year for the first time the Together! Disability Film Festival is introducing awards for Best First Film, Best Animation, Best Dance Film, Best Drama, Best Documentary, Best Film in a Language other than English, Best Accessible Film and Lifetime Achievement. Click here for the winners.
The Kats are named in honour of the late Katherine Araniello, whose films will be celebrated on the opening night of the Festival, Friday 6 December (doors open from 6pm). A YouTube pioneer, Araniello used surrealist humour to challenge views of her life as not being worth living, as well as commenting on a wide range of issues from a disability perspective. Sick Bitch Crip includes introductions by collaborators, film critics and friends in addition to screenings.
The Awards are supported by Free@Last TV, the producers of Sky TV’s Agatha Raisin detective series and other dramas, and by Bectu.
