Artists’ Films 5 December 2021

The Together! 2021 Disability Film Festival presents artists, poets and short films that defy categories and escape genres. On Sunday 5 December you could watch the Artists’ Films programme here between 12noon and midnight GMT. Shortly, any publicly available links to individual films will be added to this programme.


The Walkie-Talkies Part 4: Sightseeing. Michelle Baharier. UK. 2021. Festival Premiere. In English with English captions. FF. DDD. The Walkie-Talkies is a multimedia artwork by socially engaged artist Michelle Baharier, based on a poem by David Morris called the Routemaster Race. The full collection is designed to be experienced both on your travels using London transport via your device, or at home.


#OutBreakOut. Amy Cunningham. UK. 2021. London Premiere. A triology of short films totalling 16m17s.  In English with integrated captions.  F. DD. An anthem for escape after a year locked in by Dark Horse Theatre. Inspired by poetry and created, developed, and shot in lockdown by an exceptional cast of actors with learning disabilities. We invite you to #BreakOut from the monotony, rise above the #OutBreak and hope for tomorrow.


E13. Sterre Ploeger. UK. 2021. Premiered at the Together! 2021 Disability History Month Festival as part of Postcode Stories on 23 November. 3m. In English and Simple Sign with English captions FFF. DDD. Sterre Ploeger, walking her dog in the country, imagines how it would be if they were on the Greenway at home.


My Heart is Flying

My Heart is Flying. Rachel Norwood. UK. 2021. 5m. In English with English captions. FFF. DD. Ruby Dine is a poet and artist from Brighton who has Down Syndrome. She uses poetry to express her emotions and articulate how she feels about the world and herself. In one of her poems, Ruby describes the many aspects of her identity; “I am a mermaid. I am a poet. I am a good friend. I am a divine woman…” @poetryandartbyruby @ray__norwood and @acaciaredding Editor Acacia Redding are on Instagram and Twitter.
