Poems from the Together! 2012 Pop-Up Poetry Club for the Kitchen Carnival 2025
BURROKEETS
This is not the Endo: Donkey Rider
He is not just any donkey rider
He is a donkey dancer
Twitching ears to and fro
Who knows which way he will go!
Using reins of coloured rope
With joyous moves full of hope
Leaving trails of flowers of the ground
The Burrokeet dances, round and around.
Eve Smith: Burrokeets
Burrokeets, little donkey, little donkey.
In lots of different colours with different coloured costumes
That people wear— wearing hats in different shapes and sizes.
People make their little donkey and their donkey costumes their own.
There are various patterns and styles which people create.
It is amazing people’s imagination and what people can make.
The audience smiles as people walk by on their donkey and in their lovely
costumes which they have made.
Huma Butt: Smiles at Carnival
May I have this dance. All to dance. Donkey and rider together.
Seems how nice for donkey, looking as its dancing.
Love the smile then smiling. All the way. What next for the donkey.
The rider is having a good ride.
Ride and ride you will feel the way. Way as the crowd goes.
Goes and the rider will ride into a sea of people. People of all.
Go and go for the music. Music will play and plays its different chant.
Chant into the groove. All for the music. Music will continue for them.
Then will be on movement. Do not forget. Forget they seem.
All going, its the music for all. Crowds of people, all to dance.
Donkey rider keeps going. Then finally the last rider comes.
Good day for dancing even the riding comes and comes for the carnival.
Smiles and smiles you see not that you forget. Keep smiling for the carnival.
Renée Wallen: Burrokeet
Burrokeet, so sweet
Our carnival heroine
On your dancing feet.
Dawn Barber: Burrokeet
You colour our world with your swinging dress.
All different movements to impress.
Gay donkey, let’s show the world carnival is here.
Packed with a wonderful atmosphere.
Burrokeet, that’s what I am.
I’m here to show you how beautiful I am.
Zillah Bosworth Coleman: Drought and Carnival
Walking into another hue,
Shaded only by a memory of burrokeets.
A long walk, or was it at war?
I needed first to get to
the next mountain.
But then there was another
At night.
I fell
Asleep.
Just like that…
At one point, I saw my
son’s white hand
held a softy up
asking for help.
A calm swell of water
Ocean
Overhead.
I knew – Have I said that before?
That beneath the folds
My gown – the Ralph Lauren silver
Or perhaps
The infamous pink satin dress
Lay
Under the
Swell of control, culture and guilt
So unsuitable for my task now.
Longer than Jesus
More than 40 days and 40 nights.
My joy, my carnival.
The next mountain
And the certainty
That I was right
And Dad was wrong.
It does all come to an end
One day
And the dancers stay.
Huma Butt: Burrokeets
Into the heart of the carnival. Heart full of Burrokeets.
Get to the heart. Heart of love for the Burrokeets.
Let the love flow. Love flowing for the Burrokeets.
Heart into the carnival. All for the heart of the feastival.
Festival of hearts. Hearts full of crowd.
Crowd came then heart of the Burrokeets.
Heart of the carnival. Heart of the Burrokeets.
All hear the beats of hearts. Hearts full of beat of the drum.
Drums beating away. Beat, beat for the moments.
Moments of heart beating too. Beat with the music.
Music all join in. In and out for all.
All go with a beat. Beats mellowing into the distance.
Distance for the Burrokeets.
Distance beats echo all round. Keep, keep the heart.
Hearts for the Burrokeets.
Let go and the heart of the carnival.
Into the heart of Burrokeets. Heart for the carnival.
Beats, beats of hearts. Hearts full of Burrokeets into the carnival.
DONKEYS
Pippa Marshall: Donkey
A figure of fun
but you are in on the joke.
Laughing and smiling,
your brown and grey coat
covered by a rainbow.
Dwain Bryan: Character of a Donkey
The donkey stands up most of the day and chews on grass
And at times makes a horn sound
People look at the donkey and know what its good for
Carrying things or taking you on a ride
And can be good to be a co-worker
You can put bricks on its back
And it will never lack
And be as strong as a bull
And usually be relaxed on call
Donkeys like carrots and probably any other vegetables
Feed them well and treat them well and they will be your best friend
And they can be loyal to you to the very end
Donkeys can be either grey or brown and if you’re
In the right place you can see many of them around
Don’t stand behind them as they can give you a kick
And that can be the end of it.
Eve Smith: Happy Jumping Donkey
Jump Jump goes a donkey
And a donkey can jump a long way
Happy Happy donkey all the way
Jump Jump for the donkey and you can be happy too
If it is a nice day you and the donkey will be happy and everybody will
like it just that way.
Dawn Barber: Donkey
I put my head on the fence
I am a donkey
I feel grumpy today
I want the carnival to come my way
It happens every year
Oh dear I want to hear the donkey sounds
I need to feel alive
Then I take my head off the fence
And shake my head
The carnival will be hear soon
It’s just a little late not dead.
Huma Butt: Donkey Character
My Character of a donkey. Saying you have a donkey.
Then its lips take you to red strawberries. Then its blue hat is like blue sea. All know is you will know red lips, then blue hat.
Shining white teeth for a donkey. With teeth full to show off.
Character for my donkey taking place.
It’s thinking how cool to be a donkey.
All for rider to take off. Character of the donkey.
Sometimes you can have eyes that shine like the moon.
Blue sea eyes for this time and what fine eye lashes you have.
What a green mane I see. Seem it like mild green fairy liquid.
Your character shapes. All with re-cycling from kitchen.
All ready is from the kitchen into a donkey.
Character all out there for you to take. Taken for now is my donkey.
Seem all there. Nostrils are on the donkey. All character blooms in donkey. Ready for Kitchen Carnival 2025.
Robert Punton: Don Key
Have you met Don Key the fearless explorer
He and his forefathers and foremothers
Has accompanied every human exploration you can think of
They have carried us, supported us at every turn
On every hairy moment they have been there by our side
Always faithful, always friendly, forever steadfast, constantly strong
All they ask in return is a touch of kindness, a sign of compassion
Somewhere to get some shelter during a storm
For us to hold a hand of friendship in their time of need
Hopefully that hand will hold something tasty for them to treasure
Not a whip to punish them when we no longer need them
Look deep within their eyes see the love that radiates from within them
Surely, they deserve some love and compassion in return.
Eve Smith: Donkeys
Donkeys have pointy ears
Donkeys eat lots of grass
Donkeys like to look up at the stars at night
To guide their way home at night.
Jay Joshi: Donkeys
Our friends the donkeys are so kind in letting our young children sit on their backs as ride up and down the beaches in Blackpool and Brighton as the evening sun does down as our dear friends donkeys gets some well-deserved rest before another extremely busy day for our cherished friends the donkeys.
Kathleen Jackson: Donkey
Donkey Donkey
In my Heart
Donkey Donkey
How are you?
Lift your leg up
We want to take you out for a run
And your tail goes up and down in the air
When you jump over the fence
Everyone claps their hands
And cheers you on.
This is not the Endo: Donkey
D is for docile and calm in an emergency
O is for obliging, carrying with absolute certainty
N is for noble and ears standing so tall
K is for kicking and protecting other animals
E is for essential and the lifeline they provide
Y is for yonder and the companion always by my side.
Dawn Barber: Donkey
Donkey
Donkey
As I stroke your soft fur
You set a light on in my heart
As I give a smile
I hope we will never be apart
Your eyes look so kind and gentle
Your tail rocks from side to side
You give your head a little shake
I would like to walk you round the field
But it is too hot today
I want to look after you in every way.
Dwain Bryan: Donkeys
Donkeys are the animals of history
They work, they travel
And are an old kind of animal
They can carry things for work
And they can make a funny noise
And they can travel miles and on end
They are not harmful
And you can have them as a close pet or friend
They can carry a large weight
And you can take a seat
And if its hot they will carry you through the heat
Donkeys are strange animals in my view
And they should belong in a zoo.
Robert Punton: The Donkey
If you are a Christian, you will remember
A donkey carrying your Lords mother to the place of his birth
For those of us of a less religious persuasion
The donkey is a steadfast friend who has the strength
To carry heavy load over rough terrain,
They can keep going for a long time
The kindness in their eyes mirrors the kindness of their hearts
Their spirit and strength will never let you down
All they ask for in return is some love, some food and some shelter
I do not think that is too much to ask for
After years of service, love and respect.
Huma Butt: Donkeys
Donkeys all here, there like to be together.
Together and have a feast. Feast for the donkeys.
All together for the donkeys. Feasting can be such fun.
Donkeys munch, munching away. Munch for more.
Munch all together. Having a great ball.
Together will be and all here. Lets know you are not coming.
Together not for some. Having a ball, there together.
Some knot invited and others not know. Know, there all here.
Donkeys love that feat. Feast as if all to eat forever.
Best time for donkeys. All going munch, munch.
Come here then munch. Munching all of them.
Great feast for them. Yes bring the munch, munch.
You can hear. Big as it gets, more munching.
Munching are, lets have a feast. Feasting all for them.
Then such a great munching. Munching till they can not stop.
Feast and munch. You will hear.
FANCY HATS
Eve Smith: Different Fancy Hats
I like fancy hats
They can come in lots of different colours and be bold and bright
And they look really nice to wear
Some people might stare
As you walk out with your fancy hat’s that’s there.
This is not the Endo: Hatpin Panic
I used a hatpin in self defence
Now lets watch outrage commence
At the idea of women protecting themselves
Now men fear they will be left on the shelves
But their reign must have been paper thin
If they can be replaced by a simple hat pin.
Glory Sengo: Fancy Hats
I was wearing a fancy hat with Andrey in Central Park Road
On the ground serving everyone to eat fruits
Then Hannah got a fancy hat
So did my next door neighbour Emily
My new neighbour Georgia
Then we were going out for a walk to meet
Tinkey-Winkey, Laa-Laa and Po
And they had got their favorite things too
Tinkey-Winkey has go a hat
Dipsy has got a fancy hat in black and white
Laa-Laas got an orange one
Po has got a pink and blue scooter
While we was going out for a walk.
Dawn Barber: Fancy Hats
I feel special when I put on my hat
All different colors of flowers
I could look at it for hours
I hope people notice me as I walk down the street
I hope they will notice my hat and not the shoes on my feet
I even have a big round box to put my hat in to keep it clean
My hat is my beautiful dream.
Dwain Bryan: A Fancy Hat
A fancy hat you put on your head
That fancy hat you put on when you go out
With a view of flowers and fancy dressings
If it is extravagant you may see a view of different fruits
Bananas, apples or a single pineapple
People look and they are amazed
And in a way it brightens up your day
You look different from the other people
And you stand out
And you shake it all about
People ask you where did you get that hat from
It was passed down through my generations
And I’m here to represent all nations.
Kathleen Jackson: Fancy Hats
When we go to the circus
And the people take their fancy hats off
And the clowns wet everyone
With fancy hats
And the donkey wees on it
And the clown picks the hat off of the floor
And everyone says take your hat off
And people say take your hat off
Take your hat off!
Robert Punton: Where did you get that hat?
Where did you get that hat? Where did you get hat fancy hat
They say if you want to get ahead, get a hat
Well if that is the case then you are miles ahead of me
Wearing that headwear
I suffer from a serve case of headwear envy
I am afraid to be seen in public with you
You portray such fine plumage, while I don this paltry cap
I have never felt so handicapped by my headwear.
Robert Punton: Fancy hats
I always associated fancy hats with fancy people
The rich showing off their prowess and privilege
At fancy places like Glorious Goodwood and Henley boating regatta
I guess that id down to my class upbringing,
Believing that only the rich and pampered can avoid to waste money
On such frivolous fancies, to sip Champaigne,
to dance the day away carefree, while poor people need to toil to survive
But poor people have the right to let their hair down too
The people of Trinidad show us how to Carnival ‘Ole Mas’ style
Fill the streets with colour, music and wonder
Costumes of wonderful colour and style takeover those streets
If only for a couple of days, people can party,
people can dream of better ways and happier days.
Huma Butt: Fancy hat for Donkey
Donkeys all going to have fun. Fun in Kitchen Carnival 2025.
All different will be. You will find one with a fancy hat.
I like fancy hat. You wear what you like.
The fancy hat will do for me to. All donkeys where surprised.
Surprised for donkey to. All for a fancy hat.
Why your hat is so fancy donkey. Donkey you look different.
Fancy hat makes me have style and joy.
Then all to wear fancy hat. Donkeys all go carnival.
Yes will wear my fancy hat. See you go there.
Yes elegant hat for you. Keep busy and have a great time.
Let happen out there. See you with fancy hat.
Donkey you are there and so different.

Just remembered Carnival 2025 and that donkey with a fancy hat.
Every year carnival happens. All for the kitchen Carnival 2025.
Ready are all donkeys and you catch the one with fancy hat.
Happens donkeys great day, for them.
Stick in mind fancy hat for donkey.
Huma Butt: Fancy Hat
It’s a windy day, wind, wind come.
All for the wind and blew my hat away.
Away it flow into the darkness of the night.
All of the night dark as it be. My fancy hat took me by surprised.
How nice, fancy hat. How nice looked, yes for my fancy hat.
All going well, left the house. Wind, wind outside.
Only blew my hat away. Its a full moon and dark as its been.
Only for the moon in the night sky. Going out in the night.
No fancy hat left. Blew, blew away and no sign of my fancy hat.
Never knew the weather. It’s fast that wind, never knew fast as can be.
Take my fancy hat flew into the night sky.
How nice fancy hat, flying in the night sky.
Not sure, where it take it. Fly, fly, enjoy the night sky.
Settle when its calm. Lost my fancy hat for know.
Where wind take my fancy hat? Calm, calm soon.
Eve Smith: Fancy Fancy Fancy Hats
Fancy Fancy Fancy hats
It is what it is and just like that
Fancy Fancy Fancy hats
They can be fantastic and won’t be missed.
Zillah Bosworth Coleman: To All the Others – About Fancy Hats
London.
You laughed at me
when I wore a fancy hat
to the Oratory garden party.
Auckland.
Putting things in the boot,
you said to him
I was ostentatious —
delusions of grandeur.
Spain.
We three walking through Torrevieja
to church in 32° heat.
You sneered at my sun hat —
You look like you’re going to a wedding.
Auckland — no fancy hats there.
London — only if you’re worth it.
Spain — never if you’re Spanish.
In the land of the setting sun,
Berber men wear wide straw hats
bright with pom-poms.
That’s for the men.
They walk proudly,
looking — by some standards —
quite, quite…
Time to look like a G —
or something from the H —
or your Great-Great-Grandfather.
Fancy hats stacked in Really Useful Boxes,
sloping toward the middle
of a clapped-out 1940s wardrobe.
I hid beneath a black lace veil,
first mourner behind
Richard’s final journey,
wearing my fancy hat.
Epilogue.
Richard liked fancy.
Richard liked hats.
Raced like the driver he was.
Boarding school at eight.
Passed on — choking outside
a notorious Sunday-night watering hole,
fifteen years ago.
The rain poured on the drive to Oxfordshire:
first to the lock-up with
the remnants of your life,
then to fetch the Ferrari,
towing it with the cheap Jeep.
Lost your way in Chelsea,
trying to find the car.
I took you to Age Concern,
baby in my arms.
And then I had to let you go.
One night pitched out behind my window
was enough.
All those top hats falling from Ascot rain,
fluttering down like roses,
like Alice
before she meets the Mad Hatter.
In my bedroom, it’s a long
time for a hat to wait..
DONKEY RIDING
Ellen Goodey: Along the Beach
Brown donkeys
Lots of donkeys
Riding donkeys along the beach
Pulling donkeys reins along the beach.
Eve Smith: Donkey Rider
Riding a donkey isn’t easy
You have to be careful when you ride a donkey too
As sometimes as I said riding a donkey can’t be easy
Especially when it is really warm and hot
When you ride a donkey it doesn’t stop
Until you want it to or not.
Ellen Goodey: Pulling the Reins
Donkey
Donkey rider
Pulling the reins
The noisy donkeys
Pulling the reins. I am the rider. Riding donkeys.
Dwain Bryan: Donkey Rider
The man mounts the donkey with his bottle of water
The sun lays lazy in the sky
It looks like they’re going to travel far
Where they go I do not know
But traveling for the man is easier for his soul
They need to go to a destination where there is more life
And more action and survival skills and much more easier
They reach a town where the environment is bubbly
People drinking and chatting away selling their items and food
And children running around town playing street games
Parents usher them to a safer place maybe home
Me and the donkey stopped for a while and he blows his head to drinks some water
We’ve been traveling so far I guess the donkey needs it
So do I as we both travel on by.
Glory Sengo: Donkey Rider
Donkey rider is I ride on the donkey
To see Arial and Eric then to greet them
And play with them and sit down on the boat
And watch the water and then go to the castle to sleep
And then finishing riding on our donkey
And have fish and chips and coleslaw, and doughnuts
Then go outside and go swimming in the water
Then play water fights with each other.
Dawn Barber: Donkey
Donkey, Donkey you are sweet
I would like to go on a ride with you
To make my life complete
I hope you’ll take me around the fields
Slowly we go donkey riding together
Feeling the breeze and the weather
Hanging on tight to your reins
And letting the world know
We are on our way to carnival time again.
Robert Punton: Donkeys
Do not start feeding strawberries to donkeys
It is an endless thankless task
When we think about donkeys it conjures up thoughts of childhood
Rides on a pleasure beach on the backs on donkeys
Enjoying long summer days with loved ones,
Licking your way through sweet sticky melting ice creams
The thing to remember never end up confusing
Your donkeys with your asses
Asses will truly take you for a ride and leave you covered in shit
They will leave you feeling like a mule, a prime fool,
Kicked and battered, not knowing in which direction to turn.
Huma Butt: Donkey Rider
Donkey Rider all to ride a donkey. All going to the carnival.
Spell of donkey riders, all there. Looking to see you there.
It’s all to enjoy a great day. All will be welcome also to Donkey Riders.
Do not feel left out, all will be there for you. You will have your lime light.
Catch you there and all will be for the Donkey Riders.
Ride a Donkey is such fun. Fun all day for you. Love the carnival and all there. Especially for the Donkey Riders. Lets all be together.
Great time for all and carnival for all. All for the Donkey Riders come.
Come and it’s Donkey Riders out there and let yourself go.
All into the carnival. Great will be in the carnival.
Enjoy the moment and you will be in the carnival.
Great day for you and just go. Let yourself take all and you are there.
Carnival time comes and makes your day. Donkey Rider away you go.
Distance of Donkey Riders to see. Love the carnival.
CARNIVAL DAY
Eve Smith: Carnival
Carnival full of fun
People walk rather than run
In their fancy costumes just for fun, that’s the one.
This is not the Endo: Carnival Colour
Paint my life with your carnival colour
Erase the memory of that monochrome lover
Fill the void with your glorious light
Take me away from the never-ending night
Echo in time with your rolling vibrations
Help me forget the woes of a nation
Paint my life with your carnival colour
And let’s get lost in painting one another.
Pippa Marshall: Carnival Day
Today is carnival day,
the preparations are complete.
We bring music with us
and ask you to dance with us
for today is carnival day.
Today is carnival day
with dancing in the street.
Our shadows will dance with us
and the light will dance with us
for today is carnival day.
Today is carnival day
with smiles for all we meet.
The world will make way for us
and the world will dance with us
for today is carnival day.
Jay Joshi: Carnival
Carnivals are beautiful festivals of colourful costumes and gorgeous cultures and the smell of food fills the air and the stunning rhymes of the music fill the souls and feet of those people who love to dance at these wonderful specifics of radiant carnivals.
Glory Sengo: Central Park Road Carnival
When I was in Central Park Carnival
Dancing on the road
On the street
Then we were dancing to the music
We were dancing to the cat walk dance
Then we were singing
We were singing
When there’s no getting over that rainbow
I was singing
When there’s no getting over that rainbow
And we were dancing more
And I went to get chips and fish and a drink
And also sugary doughnuts to eat
It was fun
Very fun.
Glory Sengo: Carnival
I’m going to the Carnival with my group
I’m going to celebrate festival carnival with my friends
I start walking around with them
I start dancing to the music
And start going on the bouncy castle
And start eating and drinking
And go home.
Dwain Bryan: Carnival
Those people of culture
Hats
Dresses
Colour
Bold
Confidence
Swagger
Passion
Determination
Energy
And cool spirit
Many carnivals I’ve been to
And every time I’ve enjoyed myself
And I find out my passion
And into my action
The beating of the drums
As the man uses his strength and beats away
We travel though many streets and alleys
And people look in amazement
They seem to act like they’ve never seen a carnival before
And some of them drop their jaws
The passion and energy is amazing
And you just can’t break away
And you realize you are there most of the day
It gets a little late and things seem to quite down
And in your mind you feel a bit home bound.
Dwain Bryan: Carnival
I plan on going to carnival this year
With my friends and peers
Ready for that carnival vibe
And I’m going to be so alive
People drinking and eating
And doing you know what
Floats of music
Banging out load music
Playing your favourite songs
And you feel lively and strong
There is much to eat and drink
But people have to pay nothing
It’s free these days
You grab your patty and Jamaican beer
And sit down in a comfortable place
Which could be anywhere
The party vibe is always there
You see many ladies and men
But the ladies stand out
And in my eyes they are shaking it all about.
Robert Punton: Carnival Queen
The carnival is coming to town
Put aside your woes,
Let’s give joy and happiness a go
Put on your fanciest hats, your brightest most colourful outfits
Dust off your drums and whistles, let’s make some noise
Take over the streets, drive away the motor vehicles
It is time to free your minds, free your spirit from the daily drudge
If you are inclined partake in some strong spirits
The only competition we are interested in, who can make the loudest noise
The brightest, the loudest there
Shall be crowned our carnival King and Queen
Our most majestic couple who will share the throne for the coming year.
Zillah Bosworth Coleman: No Carnival
I heard the desert scream an
old-woman-painting
Lie down
Like a starfish
Splayed out in an
imprint in the sand
The rivers thirst
People running
Fleeing and desperation
Parched and burnt
by sand and drought
Hue after hue
They reached the mountain
And then there was another
Again, 40 days and 40 nights
never to reach me
You wonder?
Why am I so lucky?
Am I next
As the bell tolls
and the hospital notes
are freed –
259 pages of intimacy
And the whole world will
see what I had for
breakfast and hear
my private fears
‘I feel like I’m fading away’
‘I am dying but
I know I am not’
What curse
What karma
What previous life
caused this?
To make old-woman-painting
weeping
No holding hands in ritual
carnival, no carnival, no carnival, no carnival!
Ochre over Ochre
Thirst only for more thirst
Earth’s heart breaking
with cracks at the
Riverbed
Why do I get to lie
Peaceful in my green
Water gently caressing my
Shores
Dots of sheep feeding
happily on my breast
Why?
Huma Butt: Magic Clouds
Clouds and clouds, all moving in the sky. Sky full of clouds.
Clouds all going on a journey. Where will the clouds take.
Take along, if you want a ride. Ride may you will, yes why not.
Where and where the ride take.
Enjoy ride on the cloud, what ever next.
Next to the clouds and more and more.
Bumbling away to make more ride.
Clouds and clouds in all direction. Direction all over, for the ride.
Ride on a cloud and then lets go for journey.
Journey to Carnival. Clouds and clouds want to go to.
They know of Carnival. They coming for the ride.
Clouds go for the Carnival. Riding along to get there.
Only some get there by Cloud. Safe and clouds know.
Ride with clouds, take you there.
They all moving and will enjoy Carnival.
Huma Butt: Carnival 1
It takes time for the Carnival to come. Takes away a piece of me.
Sad when last of the Carnival. Sad and quite will be again.
Takes time, then when it comes. All will seem there for the Carnival.
A blink of the time gone. A blink and it will be back again.
Never think the end. End is the end. A time and place for the Carnival comes. Carnival get all together. Together and together for the Carnival.
It’s not the end and it will go forever. Ever in time, never Finish.
Let the Carnival begin and not end. Never ending Carnival.
All and all for the Carnival. Time and place, the Carnival is on the go.
All for the move of the Carnival. Where will it take you.
You think not, never ending. All you want is more and more.
More of the Carnival taking place. All time and place, you waiting for.
All at Carnival. This Carnival is forever and ever.
Huma Butt: Carnival 2
Let’s dance and dance with the music. Music goes well at the Carnival. Very well for the dance. All will be dancing.
Music continued then all to the beginning. Allow you to get there.
All then Carnival began. Began and loved all dancing.as it began to.
Ready as can be. All the music will allow you to dance.
Away till the last sound comes through. Through dance with the music.
Allow yourselves to follow to a beat of the sound.
Dance away as music comes. Carnival there and whatever you do
Do with style, do with the music. Do and do till the music gets you to the Carnival. You will be dancing and all dancing. All with the Carnival.
Dance with or let yourself go. Step back and its Carnival time.
Time of dancing and music will play. Play the music and dance away.
Huma Butt: Carnival 3
Carnival and Carnival. There and then the Carnival.
Carnival and Carnival then. Now then for the Carinval.
There and all at the Carnival. There and magical you see.
Magical then and now there. Then at the Carnival.
Where magic all there. Then you let the magic in.
Then out of magic as all is quite.
Quite and magic of the Carnival comes to light.
Light out and let all have magic come
Come, come and takes you to more music of the Carnival.
All starts quite then the magic of Carnival comes to light.
Alight all going. Light for all. All the lights in the Carnival.
Let the light come and go. Go and go at the Carnival.
What ever comes. Take the magic all at the Carnival.
Carnival and Carnival magic all around. Around and round you go.
Go and the magic stays. Stays to a magic place, all at Carnival.
There and now magic all for you.
CARNIVAL DANCING
Eve Smith: Carnival Dancing
Dance Dance Dance away
Especially on a carnival day
Carnival a day full of fun and dancing along
What more can it bring than everyone having lots of fun.
Ellen Goodey: Dancing Shoes
Carnival dancing
Away.
Put on your dancing shoes
Carnival colours
Red, orange
Lots of carnivals
Dancing shoes dancing.
The night away.
Pippa Marshall: Space to Dance
The roads are closed and quiet at first.
The roar of traffic has been taken away.
We must make way for singing
and swaying to the beat
so all can join the dance.
A dance needs everyone.
There’s a space for you
in this once-quiet street.
Jay Joshi: Carnival Dancing
Dancing to the rhythm of the music at the sway of the hips, and then move their feet tap to the rhythm of the wonderful beat of the music, with enchanting grace, the joy that Carnival Dancing brought to those who loved to dance the night away under moonlight skies.
This is not the Endo: Carnival Dancing
Grab some feathers and a jazzy hat
Ignore the phrase “Are you going out in that?”
Roll to the streets and feel the base pound
So many sequins you can’t see the ground
Dance to the drums and never stop
In glittery heels and neon hi-tops
In the swaying hips and bobbing limbs
We finally forget our maddening and mundane things.
Dawn Barber: Dance at the Carnival
Let us dance
Let us take the chance
Let us move in any way we want to
Carnival is here
Carnival is a day of beauty and happiness
People coming together
Costumes shining like the sun
Carnival you are number one
Once you have ended you leave your mark on the world
Keep on dancing
Carnival will be round again sooner than you think.
Robert Punton: Carnival Dance
Welcome to the Carnival Dance
Everything goes at the Carnival Dance
Everything shows at the Carnival Dance
You see some sights at the Carnival Dance
You might experience some frights at the Carnival Dance
Beware what you say because everyone has equal rights at the Carnival
Dance
Tell your friends, bring your friends to the Carnival Dance
Once you have been to the Carnival Dance
You will forever return to the Carnival Dance.
Dwain Bryan: Carnival Dancing
Your feet on the ground
But when you hear that carnival sound
They start to move
And your feet start to groove
And if you’re a dancer
I just can’t control my feet
Your body gets in the groove
And you shake your hips
And you wiggle your bum
To the sound of the Caribbean drums
Instruments of the Caribbean carnival is all around
All the sound keeps you going
Gives you that energy and drive
And you feel well alive
So many people around from the crowd to your peers
And most of the community is there
I wouldn’t miss this one
It’s too much fun
And forever hear the beat of the
Caribbean drums.
Dwain Bryan: Carnival Dancing
Sounds of loud music beating from the speaker
In a rhythm of culture and tradition
And a powerful influence to the community
People wearing their wild costumes and bouncing
Jamming to the music
Oh what a great culture
What a great day
And everyones expressing is on their way
A travel thorough Notting Hill and that West London Town
And nothing can stop us now
We’re on our way
And I’ve got a feeling its going to be a great day
The speakers are blasting out loud
And it’s really rocking the crowd
The MC’s rap and sing their songs
And the atmosphere is rocking all along.
Zillah Bosworth Coleman: Jumping like a Bad Daddy song
Jumping like a bad daddy
Bad bad daddy, jumping
I’m up on the float
Gyrating – giving it some welly
I’m in Heaven, 1989
With Whiplash, Vera and Lofty
Jumping like a bad daddy
Slowly… slowly…
Telegram Sam…
Am I running or dancing?
I’m in the carnival
me and Isolde
Under the Westway
Wiggling our bums
And we’re 21
A while ago
Jumping like a bad daddy
Coming home late at night
taking photos of boarded-up shops
Because it’s all SO cool
And there’ll be another one
and another
Dancing through the streets
of our lives
and after us, some more
‘and the dancers stay’
Up high, and my feet hurt
but it’s worth it to
see you looking up
at me
Yes I have feathers
I can fly above you
never to be crushed
underfoot again
Jumping like a bad daddy song
My carnival music.
Huma Butt: Cat Loves Carnival
Cat seems lost in the Carnival. Carnival for all and all.
Not forget the cat. Cat lost in the Carnival.
All at the Carnival and cat is lost. Lost and at the Carnival is the cat.
All are the crowds. Do not worry all will be quite. All will be finished soon.
Take your place in the Carnival. Carnival and all invited .
More than all, you will get home soon. All enjoying the Carnival.
Tale or two for you to tell your pals. Cat you are there in the Carnival.
Lost as you seem. Do enjoy all here. All to take you to the Carnival.
Love the Carnival while it last. Do not worry, all will be gone home.
Home to you will be. Tell and tell, what you were lost.
Lost as all in the Carnival. Never get lost. All lost in the Carnival.
All home soon. Lost cat loves the Carnival to.
Huma Butt: Carnival Dancing
Music make you feel, feel. Feeling with the music.
Keep feeling dancing. You feel and all feel to.
Feeling it to and dancing at the Carnival.
Feel the Carnival dancing. Feel with the music on the go.
Going and feeling all the way. Way you feel and dancing Carnival.
Dancing and dancing, feeling at the Carnival.
Dance feel alive and keep dancing at the Carnival.
Feel, feel the music and get you all. All feeling the dance at the Carnival.
Later you will be tired and good feeling you came.
Best dancing, feeling for knowing. All feeling to dance.
Dance away all at Carnival. All feel and music play till you stop.
Stop and final feeling. Feeling the final dance.
Dance away till time to go. Go and go dancing you feel it later.
